In a recent report, The Telegraph mentioned that Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Bayer 04 Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby this summer. It has been revealed that the Magpies are planning to move in for the French wide player during this summer transfer window.

Diaby’s Excellent Run Of Form In BayArena This Season

Diaby has proven his worth as a productive winger in Germany as he has been responsible for putting in several match-winning performances on the left side of Leverkusen’s attack. The 22-year-old has made 42 appearances for the German outfit this season, netting 17 goals and picking up 14 assists across all fronts.

The promising winger has been a consistent performer in the final third based on his average of 1.7 tackles, 1.9 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He was also quite tidy with his ball distribution after completing 77.2% of his attempted passes in top-flight football  (stats via whoscored).

What Will Diaby Add To Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe’s Side?

Diaby is capable of making some dangerous runs with the ball out on the wide areas. He has got the vision to cut open the opposition defence with a killer pass in the attacking end of the field. The French sensation deserves a lot of praise for adding plenty of goals and assists to his game this season. He is primarily a left-sided wide player but can even fill in on the other side as a right-winger.

Thus, it is only logical for a club like Newcastle to move in for him during the summer transfer period. Diaby will add some much-needed firepower to Eddie Howe‘s attack and could even help the Magpies challenge for a European spot in the coming seasons.

With all things considered, the Tyneside giants should think about trying everything they can to acquire the services of the talented winger this summer. At 22, Diaby has got a lot of room for improvement and could grow into a future star at St. James’ Park if he can make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football.
