In a recent report, Sport1 mentioned that Newcastle United could move in for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Willian Pacho. It has been claimed that the Magpies are hoping to bring the Ecuadorian centre-back to St. James’ Park in the future.

Pacho’s Impressive Form In The Bundesliga

The 22-year-old has been a reliable performer when defending inside his half and deserves credit for putting in a string of solid displays for Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. Pacho has appeared in 16 matches for the German club this season but has failed to find the back of the net or pick up an assist for them across multiple competitions.

The Ecuador sensation has been a rock at the back based on his average of 2.5 tackles, 1.6 interceptions and 4.3 clearances per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from inside his half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 83% in the German first division (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the German club will expire in the summer of 2028. Therefore, the Magpies will have to make a convincing offer if they want to bring the talented centre-half on board next year.

What Will Pacho Bring To Newcastle United?

Pacho is a tough-tackling defender who can sense the danger quickly to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.

Standing at 1.87m, the Ecuador international can be a commanding presence on the defensive end of the pitch. However, there are some question marks over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League.

We can expect Pacho to bring more bite and steel to Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe’s defence. He will also help the Magpies compete across all fronts over the next few years.

At 22, Pacho has got a bright future ahead of him which makes him a great, long-term option for the Tyneside club to consider this winter. Howe would be the perfect man to get the best out of the South American sensation over the next decade. Thus, Newcastle would be wise to go all out to snap Pacho up next year.
