In a recent report, The Mirror mentioned that Newcastle United are monitoring Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe. It has been stated that the Magpies have identified the English talent as a target for the upcoming transfer window.

Smith Rowe’s Growing Frustrations In North London This Season

Smith Rowe is having a frustrating campaign at the North London club as he has struggled to nail down a regular spot in Mikel Arteta’s first team. The London-born attacker has featured in 18 matches for the Gunners this season, picking up a couple of assists across all fronts.

The 23-year-old has seen most of his game time come off the bench which could be why he is only averaging 1.0 shots, 0.3 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has been tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 88.3% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the North London club will run out in the summer of 2026. However, Newcastle should still try to sign him on the cheap as Eddie Howe can afford to offer him regular playing minutes on the field in the coming seasons.

What Will Smith Rowe Bring To Arsenal?

Smith Rowe is a decent dribbler with the ball when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the pitch. He can create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third and can even shoot the ball with power from long range.

The English sensation is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder or as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so.

Smith Rowe would bring more energy and dynamism to Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe’s frontline. He is more than capable of challenging for a regular starting role at the Tyneside club in the coming years.

At 23, Smith Rowe has got his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Magpies to pursue in the summer transfer period. He already knows the Premier League well by now and won’t take much time to settle into life at St. James’ Park if Howe can devise a way to get him on board later this year.
