In a recent report, Chronicle Live mentioned that Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Chelsea playmaker Conor Gallagher. It has been revealed that the Magpies are monitoring the progress of the English talent ahead of a potential move in the summer.

Gallagher’s Impressive Numbers In Premier League Football

Gallagher is having a decent campaign at Stamford Bridge as he has managed to put in a series of influential displays for Chelsea in the final third. The 24-year-old has registered five goals and picked up eight assists in 43 matches for the Blues this season on all fronts.

The English talent has been a decent performer for Mauricio Pochettino’s side based on his average of 2.4 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 0.6 clearances, 1.3 shots, 1.6 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 91% in league football (stats via whoscored).

Gallagher is under contract at the West London club until the end of next season which could open the door for the Magpies to sign him on a cut-price deal in the upcoming transfer window.

Is Gallagher A Decent Option For Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe?

Gallagher usually works his socks off for his team defensively and can strike the ball with power from long range. He has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the opponent’s half and is a good dribbler with the ball as well.

The English sensation can chip in by scoring and creating some important goals for his team. However, he needs to find a way to be more consistent with his contributions in front of the opposition goal.

Gallagher is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also operate in the number ten position or play as a defensive midfielder if needed. He would bring more quality and depth to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s squad. The English talent already knows the Premier League well and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Tyneside club.

St. James’ Park next season. At 24, he has got his peak years ahead of him which makes him a great option for the Magpies to pursue in the long run.
