In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Newcastle United are keen on recruiting West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta. It has been stated that the Magpies are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Brazilian sensation next year.
Paqueta has made a good start to this campaign after putting in a few influential displays for them in the final third. The 26-year-old has found the back of the net once and picked up one assist in five matches for the East London club this season in the Premier League.
The Paqueta-born talent has been a positive influence at both ends of the field as he is averaging 4.2 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 1.4 shots, 1.4 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 77.1% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the London Stadium will run out in the summer of 2027. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Magpies to land him next year.

Paqueta is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when needed and can even set up a few clear-cut chances for his teammates up top.
The Brazilian playmaker is a technically gifted footballer who can shoot the ball with venom from long range. However, Paqueta needs to make more runs in behind the opponent’s backline if he wants to increase his offensive productivity in the coming seasons.
We can expect Paqueta to add more quality to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s first XI. He is good enough to earn a regular starting spot at St. James’ Park next year.
At 26, Paqueta is about to enter his prime soon which makes him a great choice for the Tyneside club to pursue in 2024. Hence, Howe should focus on launching a big-money offer to sign him in January or at the end of this campaign.
