In a recent report, SportBILD (via Sport Witness) claimed that Newcastle United are in the running to recruit Eintracht Frankfurt ace Omar Marmoush this summer. It has been mentioned that the Magpies would face competition in the form of Tottenham Hotspur in the race to land the Egyptian centre-forward.

Marmoush’s Impressive Form In German Football

Marmoush has enjoyed a good run of form in the Bundesliga during this campaign as he has managed to put in a series of impressive performances for Frankfurt in the final third. The Egpytian talent has participated in 32 matches for his current employers this season, netting 15 goals and picking up six assists in multiple competitions.

The 25-year-old has been a decent performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 2.4 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. However, he has lacked quality when distributing the ball on the offensive end of the field, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 71.2% in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the German club will expire in the summer of 2027. Thus, Newcastle would find it difficult to sign him on the cheap at the end of this season.

Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Move In For Marmoush?

Marmoush is a decent dribbler with the ball and can make a few intelligent runs with the ball up top. He has got the vision to orchestrate some inviting chances for his teammates in the opposition half and can strike the ball purely and with venom from long range.

The Egypt international has proven himself to be a capable finisher in the Bundesliga this season. Thus, it is no surprise that the Magpies are showing interest in recruiting him this summer.

Marmoush mainly operates as a centre-forward but can also fill in as a wide player on either flank if needed. However, he needs to find a way to improve his link-up play up top if he wants to be a success story in English football.
