Excitement

This claim from Bridge will surely excite Newcastle fans as it suggests that PIF are set to make a move for Alli next month to bolster the squad.

The midfielder has only started six Premier League games this season, after starting seven last term, and has fallen out of favour at White Hart Lane. This could open the door for the Magpies to swoop and attempt to unearth the gem who has lost his way of late.

In his first three top-flight seasons for Spurs, Alli produced 37 goals and 29 assists – averaging 12 goals and ten assists per campaign, excluding cup competitions. This shows that the ability is there and he has the capabilities to be a top-quality player at this level by regularly scoring and creating goals.

Earlier this year, his teammate Eric Dier hailed his ‘unnoticed’ qualities by citing his work rate off the ball, saying:

“Everyone knows his qualities, but I think he also has a lot of qualities which go unnoticed. The amount of second balls he wins, the amount he runs for the team and presses.

“He’s always attached to the game, it’s like he’s on a string to the ball. He is always attached to the game in every moment and that’s a great quality to have.”

Who scored more goals for Newcastle? An easy one to start...

Alan Shearer Shola Ameobi

This shows that he has the work rate and pressing nous to go along with his goalscoring and creativity, albeit he has been unable to merge all of his qualities together in recent years. Eddie Howe could enjoy working with him on the training pitch to get him back to his best, with his previous statistics showing that all the raw materials are there to be extracted.

Newcastle supporters will, therefore, be excited at the prospect of the £100k-per-week magician arriving at St. James’ Park as he has the potential to be a huge player for them in the Premier League.

He has shown the level of impact he can have in the final third at this level and fans will surely be buzzing to see a player with his quality be given the chance to shine by Howe in the second-half of the season. This is why this is an exciting update from Bridge for Magpies supporters.
