As reported by , having missed out on signing Reims striker Hugo Ekitike, who is set to join PSG for around €30m in the coming hours, Newcastle United are planning on switching their attentions to another young Ligue 1 striker.

The Magpies are planning to make contact with Bordeaux over 19-year-old forward Sekou Mara. Bordeaux, despite having been relegated from Ligue 1 after a catastrophic campaign before now fighting against being demoted to the third tier due to financial issues, are demanding €15m plus bonuses and a sell-on percentage to allow the teenager to leave. In 26 Ligue 1 outings this term, mostly as a substitute, Mara managed six goals
