After successful negotiations for the past month, Sorensen, who spent last season on-loan with Eerste Divisie Almere City, is set to sign a four-year contract with Esbjerg.

The striker still has a year to run on his Newcastle deal, though appears set to be handed a free transfer. Sorensen is expected to sign for Esbjerg in the coming days with the Danish league now underway.

The 21 year-old joined Newcastle in 2017 from HB Koge, where former Liverpool defender Dan Agger is now in charge. Sorensen has since spent time on-loan with Blackpool, Carlisle United and last season with Almere City.

With Almere in Holland's Second Division, Sorensen played 24 games, scoring five goals and producing four assists. While with Newcastle, the striker was twice capped by Denmark at U21 level.
