A leading member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has reemerged as a target for Premier League outfit Newcastle United.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Andreas Christensen as the player in question.
Stopper Christensen has for his part been tipped for a move to Newcastle on more than one occasion in the past.
As much comes with the Danish international boasting prior experience of English football owing to his time spent with Chelsea, and still held in high regard across the Premier League landscape.
Christensen was for his part left on the bench from the off in Barcelona’s season opener against Valencia on Saturday night, giving rise to murmurs that he may not be to the liking of new head coach Hansi Flick.
And eager to take advantage in the case of as much being confirmed, as alluded to above, are Newcastle.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Magpies have made securing reinforcements at the heart of defence a priority before the summer window is out.
Amid ongoing frustration in their attempts to sign first-choice target Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace, Christensen’s profile, in turn, has come back to the fore at St. James’ Park.
On the Barcelona side of things, though, the stopper’s sale would only be taken into consideration in the case of an irresistible offer being received.
