Newcastle have opened talks to sign Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi as they look to bolster their backline ahead of the new campaign.
The Magpies have been slow out of the blocks this summer, with only Lloyd Kelly, John Ruddy and Odysseas Vlachodimos arriving at St James' Park, though they are in advanced talks over a move for Sheffield United attacker William Osula.
Now, the reliable David Ornstein has revealed that they have opened negotiations to sign Guehi, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool this summer.
The defender, who starred for England at EURO 2024, is down to the final two years of his deal at Selhurst Park and wanted across Europe, but Newcastle have moved first to try and secure his signature.
