Newcastle's winless start to the season continued at the weekend, with Tottenham Hotspur consigning the Magpies to a 3-2 defeat.

The loss resulted in Bruce telling Sky Sports, via the Sun, that he wanted the club's new owners to offer clarity over his position.

Newcastle are under new ownership following the club's £305million takeover earlier this month.

Since the injection of cash, the likes of Antonio Conte, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard have been linked with replacing Bruce in the dugout.

What has Tom Barclay said about the speculation?

Barclay has hinted Potter might be interested in being installed as Bruce's successor on Tyneside.

Barclay told GIVEMESPORT: "I think, with all the variables about Newcastle right now, it would be a big decision.

"But Graham Potter has never been scared of making any kind of risky decision, so I wouldn't rule it out.

"Having said that, I'm not getting a sense at the moment that Brighton are worried about it."

Why are Newcastle being linked to Potter?

Potter cut his managerial teeth with Swedish side Ostersunds before moving on to Championship outfit Swansea City and then Brighton.

The 46-year-old has chalked up 159 wins over the course of 370 matches in the dugout.

He has got the current season off to a promising start, leading Brighton into the Premier League's top four.

The Seagulls have suffered just one defeat so far this term, with that coming at the hands of Everton in August.

It was during his time with Ostersunds when he won silverware, with him leading the Swedish club to the Svenska Cupen.

Potter was also linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job during the summer, but the Telegraph reported he had no interest in the role as he did not want to 'risk his reputation' by working under Daniel Levy.
