Newcastle have reportedly made contact with Napoli for the services of striker Victor Osimhen, in an attempt to beat Manchester United to the Nigerian international’s signature this summer, reports Calciomercato.

The 23-year-old has been in blistering form for Napoli this season, scoring 17 goals and tallying six assists in all competitions.

United have reportedly entertained the idea of offering Anthony Martial as part of their offer to sign Osimhen.

But Napoli expect a rumoured £60m for his services, which could be a price too high to pay for the Red Devils.

Enter Newcastle, who, with a fresh injection of finances due to their recent change in ownership, could swoop in and steal away the striker in the summer window.

It would complete a move that’s been on Newcastle’s radar since 2019, when the club reportedly began monitoring the striker during his days at Lille.
