Newcastle United are set to return in the summer with a renewed bid for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, according to The Mirror.

The Magpies have tried to sign Mbeumo this month, but Brentford have been firm in their bid to keep the Cameroon international at the club at least until the end of the season.

The Magpies are long-standing admirers of the 25-year-old, who has been in outstanding form for the Bees this season.

With Miguel Almiron returning to former club, Atlanta United, in the Major League Soccer (MLS), Mbeumo was seen as the ideal replacement for the Paraguayan winger.

Newcastle made a move for Mbeumo earlier in the January transfer window, but Brentford swiftly dismissed the offer, making it clear they have no plans to sell their prolific forward mid-season.

With the window closing next week, Newcastle can only sign Mbeumo now through a player-plus-cash deal due to their financial limitations under the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Only Salah (19), Erling Braut Haaland (18), and Newcastle’s own Alexander Isak (17) have outscored him in the Premier League this season.

Mbeumo’s contract runs until the end of next season, but Brentford have an option to extend it by an additional 12 months, meaning they’re under no immediate pressure to sell.

However, Newcastle are not the only club keeping tabs on him – Liverpool and Arsenal are also interested, with Salah’s future at Anfield uncertain and Bukayo Saka currently sidelined with injury.

Eddie Howe’s side has been in formidable form, winning 10 of their last 11 matches in all competitions.

With Isak enjoying a sensational goal-scoring run, adding Mbeumo to the attack could give Newcastle even more firepower as they continue their push for silverware and a top-four finish.
