Sassuolo’s Brazilian left-back Rogerio is a very sought-after player this summer and Newcastle are keen to bring him to St. James’ Park.
That’s according to Sky Italy, who claim the former Juventus man would be in the Magpies plans regardless of whether or not Mike Ashley is able to persuade Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) to purchase the club.
After a pair of loan spells from Juventus, Sassuolo activated their €5m option-to-buy at the end of the 2018-19 season.
Despite spending most of the season out with a meniscus injury, the Brazilian youth international came back to the restart and took back his starting spot in Roberto De Zerbi’s line-up, making a total of 18 appearances this season.
Despite being just 22 years old, Rogerio has already made 66 first-team appearances and has scored a pair of goals.
Newcastle are also considering bids for Bournemouth duo Callum Wilson and David Brooks.
