Liverpool are very interested in adding Alexander Isak before the transfer window closes.
The Newcastle forward has made it clear that he no longer wishes to play for his current club. He played no part in preseason and sat out the Geordies’ opening Premier League fixture against Aston Villa.

The 25-year-old has got no intention of signing a new contract - with his current terms expiring in 2028 - and Liverpool believe they are favourites for his signature.
Sporting director Richard Hughes has already seen a bid of £110m knocked back for the Swede as Newcastle’s demands have not yet been satisfied.
Firstly, they are holding out for around £150m. And secondly they need strikers through the door. Having missed out on Joao Pedro, Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike, Newcastle are running out of targets.
They have got ambitions to add Yoane Wissa from Brentford - while Alexander Sorloth is now reportedly on the list.
And there is an intriguing development being reported by Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany.
He claims that Newcastle’s only No9 option besides Isak - William Osula - is destined to leave the club before the transfer deadline.
“William Osula is one to watch until Deadline Day,” the German transfer expert wrote on X. “The 22 y/o striker could still leave Newcastle in the coming days.
“There is also interest from the Bundesliga. Bayer 04 Leverkusen have him on their radar, but nothing is advanced yet.”
Now this is interesting from a Liverpool perspective because Osula would presumably be back-up if Newcastle were unable to land a striker.
