Newcastle United are seriously interested in adding Atalanta wing-back Robin Gosens to their ranks and have already agreed personal terms with the player.
That’s according to Sky Italia, who report on Saturday that the Magpies are waiting for an injury assessment on the 27-year-old before submitting a bid to his current club.
Gosens starred for Germany at last summer’s European Championship but he hasn’t played for Atalanta since picking up a muscle injury in the Champions League on 29 September.
He is expected to fit again in mid-February and with his contract valid until June 2023, Atalanta are likely to command a hefty fee if they are persuaded to sell him.
But Sky report that he has already agreed a contract with Newcastle for three years worth €3.5m-per-season.
Atalanta are reportedly reluctant to let Gosens leave in January, but an attractive bid from the newly-minted Premier League club could change their minds.
