A new survey has revealed that a majority of Newcastle fans are still in favour of the proposed Saudi-led takeover of the club.
However, at the same time, the Big Toon Survey conducted by The Chronicle shows that fewer supporters now believe the deal can be resurrected.
When the same publication asked fans back in August if they wanted the approach by the consortium represented by Amanda Staveley to be successful, 92% of respondents were in favour of the idea.
That has fallen slightly to 90% in the latest survey.
The big change is in the confidence of Magpies that the deal has any future after the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia withdrew their offer.
Now 60% believe the PIF takeover is dead in the water, with only 35% still believing that an agreement can be hammered out.
It seems the Tyneside faithful are mostly convinced that current owner Mike Ashley is serious about finding a buyer, with 82% of the opinion that he is really looking to sell and just 15% believing his efforts are disingenuous.
