Newcastle United have completed the permanent signing of Matt Targett from Aston Villa on a four-year deal.
Targett impressed during a spell on loan at St James’ Park in the second half of last season, making 16 appearances for the Magpies in all.

He now joins the club permanently in a deal worth a reported £15m – £3m of which includes a loan fee for last season.
The 26-year-old became surplus to requirements following the January arrival of Lucas Digne at Villa Park but the left-back appears to be better suited to Eddie Howe’s system and it is a deal which appears to suit all parties.
