Newcastle boss Eddie Howe says the presence of Bruno Guimaraes can help them in the transfer market.

Earlier this month, the Brazilian made no secret of his desire to reunite with his compatriot - and former Lyon teammate - Lucas Paqueta.

Reports have linked United with a £58million move for the midfielder, who has three years left on his current deal. Howe responded to a question about Paqueta ahead of Monday's game against Arsenal.

"I'm aware of Bruno's relationship, not just with Lucas Paqueta but many of his ex-players," he said. “Certainly, it helps to have players play at the very highest level because those relationships and opinions can be very valuable.

"I have signed players from many different sources over the years. I've never cut off any recommendation from anybody. But of course, I'd have to go through the right process of watching and analysing the player to see if he's right for the team."
