Newcastle have dismissed talk of Serie A interest for Matty Longstaff.

The Evening Chronicle says Newcastle are yet to receive any fresh contact from Serie A side Udinese on Longstaff.

The Italian side were keen on the 21-year-old last summer and discussed the possibility of signing him as a free agent before 11th-hour contract talks between the Academy product's parents, agent and Steve Bruce at the head coach's house resulted in him agreeing on a two-year deal.

Those at Newcastle are believed to be mystified by reports in Italy of a new approach.

But with one year left of his current deal, the 2021/22 season is vital for the youngster's career.
