According to L’Équipe, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and West Ham United are interested in bringing Olympique de Marseille’s Mattéo Guendouzi (24) back to the Premier League.

The former Arsenal midfielder has seen his starting spot in Marseille’s midfield threatened in recent weeks, and he didn’t get on the pitch during last weekend’s victory over ESTAC Troyes. It is expected that Guendouzi, whose deal with Les Phocéens expires in 2025, will leave in the summer transfer window.

L’Équipe reported back in January that the Ligue 1 club were prepared to sell Guendouzi this summer, whilst RMC Sport reported that Aston Villa were prepared to spend up to €40m to land the France international. Whilst Aston Villa’s reported interest is nothing new, the club could face some strong competition from Premier League rivals.

West Ham are expected to lose Declan Rice this summer and are lining up Guendouzi as a potential replacement. At this moment in time, Newcastle are pushing less for the Marseille midfielder’s arrival, but they are nonetheless in the race, whilst Italian clubs are also following his situation.
