On Friday, Newcastle announced an additional pair of pre-season contests.
The Magpies revealed that they will face Scottish side Hibernian on 30 July at Easter Road and French side AS Saint-Etienne on 3 August at St. James’ Park.
Newcastle already had a pair of Premier League Asia trophy duels slated in July, where they will face Wolverhampton Wanderers on 17 July and either Manchester City or West Ham three days later in China.
Though four of their pre-season matches are now set in stone, it’s still a mystery whether or not Rafa Benítez will lead Newcastle into battle, as his contract expires on 30 June and contract talks are still ongoing.
