Kyle Duncan is back with the New York Red Bulls. The defender returns on loan from K.V. Oostende through the end of the 2022 Major League Soccer season, after initially being transferred to Belgium’s top flight on January 1.

He made seven appearances for the Belgian club before coming back to the American league.

“We are excited to bring Kyle back on loan for the rest of the season,” Red Bulls sporting director Denis Hamlett said in a release. “He has vast experience in the league, and we are happy that we can bring someone in that is familiar with the system of football that we play.”

Duncan logged four seasons with the Red Bulls before heading overseas, managing five goals and 10 assists in 72 appearances. He also formed part of the 2018 Red Bulls side that lifted the Supporters’ Shield.

“I am happy to have Kyle back with us,” head coach Gerhard Struber said in a release. “Kyle knows the way we want to play from his time with us the past couple of years and we are excited to see what he can bring to our team for the rest of the year.”

The defender now joins USMNT figure Aaron Long in a defense that's allowed 13 goals in the last three games.

Duncan’s arrival comes at a crucial time for the Red Bulls, as they fight to regain defensive control and maintain a top four spot on the Eastern Conference table. The team has seen a solid 2022 campaign, managing a 10W-7L-6D record as the playoffs approach.
