Brighton and Hove Albion appear to have revealed how much Chelsea paid to appoint Graham Potter.

Potter’s three-year stay at the Amex Stadium ended in September when he was installed as Thomas Tuchel’s successor with the west Londoners.

The Seagulls’ latest set of accounts published on Wednesday show a £21.5m figure thought to be compensation for the 47-year-old’s departure.

That figure would make Potter’s move to Stamford Bridge the most expensive compensation fee for any manager in football history.

Bayern Munich’s 2019 approach for erstwhile RB Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann could eclipse that fee if he wins a second Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double by 2027 and he was the previous record holder.

Potter has endured a difficult start to life in the Chelsea hot seat with his new employers languishing 10th in the Premier League despite progressing to the Champions League quarter-finals.
