Back in February 2025, it was reported by The Athletic that Newcastle United have a unilateral option with Callum Wilson regarding his contract situation.

As things stand, the striker sees his current deal set to end on 30 June 2025.

The Athletic three months ago reporting that it is up to the club whether to add another year on.

The report adding that NUFC have the luxury of being able to wait until after this season had ended, to decide whether they want to take Callum Wilson up to 30 June 2026.

However, there has now been a twist on the Callum Wilson situation.

With Craig Hope of The Mail making public that this is not the case – 8 May 2025:

‘Callum Wilson would appear to have a 50-50 chance of staying right now.

He’s out of contract and, to stay, he would almost certainly have to re-negotiate a deal to include appearance-based incentives, given his injury record.

I can reveal there was a set number of games that would have invoked an automatic extension in Wilson’s contract, but they will not be met.

Don’t forget, it could also be the player who fancies a new challenge – especially if an offer comes from abroad – rather than the club showing him the door.’

How the Newcastle United contracts situation now looks (via official club releases and media reports), when current deals are up:

End of June 2025:

Wilson, Gillespie, Ruddy, Lewis

End of June 2026:

Schar, Burn, Targett, Pope, Longstaff, Ashby, Hayden, Trippier, Krafth, Dubravka, Lascelles

End of June 2027:

Botman, Jacob Murphy, Willock

End of June 2028:

Tonali, Isak, Barnes, Livramento, Bruno, Miley, Joelinton, Alex Murphy

End of June 2029:

Kelly (now on loan at Juventus who have an obligation to buy), Hall, Gordon

Other than Callum Wilson, that would then leave only the following seeing their current deals set to conclude at the end of June 2025.

Jamal Lewis leaving for sure. Then Ruddy and Gillespie expected to leave as well, unless kept on as part of the backroom/coaching team.
