Barcelona won a pre-season Clásico at MetLife Stadium on Saturday evening, following a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid.
Scorers: Paz 82'; Víctor 42', 54'
The match was delayed over an hour due to lightning in the area, but once the players re-emerged, the young talent of tomorrow put on a thriller.
Barcelona were the better of the two, constantly threatening Thibaut Courtois' net, and the Belgian was forced to make key decisions to keep things deadlocked. Madrid, meanwhile, were without big stars Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé.
The deadlock broke thanks to a smart run from Pau Víctor after Robert Lewandowski bobbled an attempt. The 22-year-old positioned himself between Antonio Rüdiger and Éder Militão and headed home from close range. And then he didn't stop there!
Víctor doubled the lead after the break when he again squeezed past the centrebacks above and poked home a cross at the back post. He now has three goals in two games after also scoring against Manchester City. Perhaps Hansi Flick has a new star in his hands?
Unfortunately for Real Madrid, Arda Güler and Endrick's efforts were promising but lacked a final finish. Vinícius Júnior was also off his mark and his attacking partner Rodrygo Goes missed the game due to calf discomfort.
Shock defending handed Los Blancos a lifeline as an unmarked Nico Paz headed home for 2-1, but the damage was already done.
Barcelona have now won all four Clásicos on American soil.
