This was a surprisingly close call! RB Leipzig defeat 4th tier side Sandhausen 4-2 in the first round of the DFB-Pokal.
Sandhausen went into the game with bad form, having lost their first two games in the Regionalliga Südwest - however, they were the ones dominating the first 20 minutes of the game.
Leon Ampadu Wiafe scored the opener after three minutes - and it was already Sandhausen's third shot on target! Leipzig were able to equalise three minutes later thanks to new signing Yan Diomande, but Sandhausen were able to get in front a second time in minute 18 thanks to Jahn Herrmann.
Just five minutes later, die roten Bullen were again able to level the game thanks to former captian Willi Orbán - David Raum is now the new captain of RB Leipzig (check out all the new Bundesliga captains here).
It was a very entertaining first half with Sandhausen surprising their opponent and, most likely, their own fans as well. The second half however, was very much in favour of the Bundesliga club.
New signings Johan Bakayoko and Ezechiel Banzuzi brought a lot of energy into Leipzig's game, with the latter getting his club in front for the first time in this game in the 79th minute after a beautiful chip ball from centre-back Castello Lukeba.
To cap the game off, Xavi Simons was able to make his mark by scoring in the 96th minute - it could be his last ever performance for RB, since he is close to joining Premier League side Chelsea FC.
In the end, Leipzig has deservedly gotten into the next round of the DFB-Pokal - thanks to their new signings, who are showing their talent early on in their Leipzig career.
