A new fan poll conducted by Ibrox Noise has revealed overwhelming support for the return of Steven Gerrard as Rangers manager, with an estimated 73% of 1,100 respondents backing the move.

The Facebook poll, shared by Ibrox Noise in the build-up to the final Old Firm clash of the season, posed a clear question: “Do you want Steven Gerrard back as Rangers manager?” Based on the results of the vote approximately 803 fans voted “Yes”, while 297 voted “No”, showing a strong majority in favour of the former manager’s return.

Gerrard, who led Rangers to their historic 55th league title during an unbeaten 2020/21 campaign, departed the club in late 2021 to join Aston Villa. While some fans felt disappointed by the timing of his exit, many still credit him with restoring belief and structure during a critical phase in the club’s resurgence.

Since leaving Ibrox, Gerrard’s managerial career has had mixed results, with a short-lived stint at Villa and a recent spell in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ettifaq. Nonetheless, the poll result suggests that a large portion of the Rangers support are eager to see him given a second chance.

The timing of the poll is significant. With Barry Ferguson currently in interim charge following Philippe Clement’s dismissal, Rangers face key decisions in the summer as they look to rebuild both the squad and their managerial structure. Gerrard’s name continues to circulate in fan discussions and media reports, and the poll provides concrete evidence that his return would be well received by the majority of supporters.

Not all fans are in agreement, of course. Some have voiced concerns about moving backwards or reappointing a manager with recent inconsistencies. Still, the clear 73–27 split from a sizable sample of 1,100 votes suggests the idea has strong momentum among the fanbase.

Whether Rangers (future) board shares that enthusiasm remains to be seen — but the voice of the supporters is now loud and clear.
