New Rangers Owners, Same Clueless Out Of Touch Decisions

If there is one thing clear from the breaking news of Russell Martin being borderline close to being appointed Rangers Manager, it’s that Rangers boards, no matter who they are, have a very bad habit of appointing substandard managers for this club. Gone are the halcyon days of a Walter Smith, a Dick Advocat, or an Alex McLeish. Instead, now, we seem to get second-hand car salesmen, clueless foreigners, or general former players who unfortunately haven’t got a clue.
Now we’re looking at another former player, who only had a modest career in the Championship before struggling in the Premier League. Russell Martin would be the latest symptom of a Rangers who simply cannot be run properly.Gone are these halcyon days of a patriarch manager who knew exactly what he was doing, how to manage rangers, and how to deal with a Scottish top flight. Now it’s progressive laptop managers. It’s nonsense. It’s people who don’t understand the gravity and intensity of managing rangers.
Martin played for us in 2018 during a time when we were still recovering technically from the journey. That doesn’t mean he understood the absolute must-win nature. Yes, Martin would know who Rangers are and would know the importance of victory in titles, but doing it in management is a completely different thing and he hasn’t managed to achieve anything in management that would set him up to be the right stock for rangers.
It is just an out-of-touch board as per usual. It doesn’t matter who owns Rangers. This is why Ibrox Noise did not celebrate the takeover at all because we needed to see proof first of all that this takeover would actually produce something more in touch with the fans, with the club, and with what is needed. And so far the appointments don’t suggest that’s the case.
Thelwell as director of football? Who? A success at Everton? Perhaps not. Then there’s Dan Purdy, pretty much the same as Thelwell and we still got Patrick Stewart as CEO and then Russell Martin potentially as manager. That is even worse than what we used to have. So don’t go around wishing for things because you might just get what you wish for and in this case we have a bunch of Americans who own this club and who don’t have the first clue about what it needs.
It doesn’t really bode a lot of positivity.
‘Give them a chance ffs’…
