New Rangers injury confirmed at around two months

As indeed Ibrox Noise reported to you post-Ajax, Rangers have lost Nicolas Raskin for a minimum of two months and he will 100% miss the start of the season, in what is a nasty blow for the club and the player.

Raskin had just regained form and was looking in a much better place for Philippe Clement’s men prior to season’s end, but after a bad clash in the aforementioned friendly has badly twisted his ankle and is out for an absolute bare minimum of ‘5 to 6 weeks’ but is likely to be longer than this.

It does hurt Rangers in midfield – we are now down to just Mohamed Diomande and Connor Barron in there, because this manager will just not select Dujon Sterling in his best position for love nor money.

Meaning that Rangers are going to have to bring in another body for depth, or put a playmaker deeper as depth – it is yet another blow for Rangers’ preseason, and now means that in no position on the pitch are Rangers even remotely ready for the new campaign.

The club is short in goals, central defence, fullback (especially with Tavernier leaving), midfield, wings, and all forms of attack.

That Balogun, Goldson, Souttar, Nsiala and Davies is our most ‘compete’ area of the pitch gives some idea of how far behind where we need to be Rangers are, and we’re certainly not ready for Manchester United this afternoon!

But yes, Raskin’s injury is a blow. From having four midfielders (optimistically hoping for Sterling in there) to now just two (having given up on Sterling going in there) Rangers are now a bit wanting in that area.

One more injury and we’re down to very little in that area.

Raskin’s absence is a real problem.
