As our recent matches were not marked by success, we now have to go all out and attack before the winter break. Our Red Bulls finally had the first chance in a long time this week to spend a few quiet days - with no midweek fixture and no international matches. Our batteries are fully charged as we prepare to host TSV Egger Glas Hartberg this Saturday at the Red Bull Arena.
Our first meeting in August was one to file under "a win's a win". Nicolas Capaldo scored the winner in a hard-fought 1-0 victory against the deep-sitting opponents with his first goal. Looking further back, we normally have great experiences against TSV. In a total of nine meetings, we have taken 25 out of the maximum possible 27 points. Our goalscoring record against Hartberg also makes pleasant reading - with 3.9 goals on average.
Last weekend, Hartberg were involved in a real last-minute drama against LASK. Big striker Dario Tadic responded to a Linz equaliser by sealing a 2-1 win in stoppage time. Kurt Russ's side have had an up and down season so far. The 20 points they have gained leaves them right in mid-table in sixth place.
We want to use the chance in our penultimate Bundesliga match before the winter break to underscore our position as runaway league leaders. A win against Hartberg will also be important to give us positive momentum ahead of our final UEFA Champions League group stage match against Sevilla on Wednesday.
Follow it for free: we will post live updates of the match against TSV Hartberg on our English club Twitter channel.
Bernardo (knee), Zlatko Junuzovic (heel), Sekou Koita (knee), Bryan Okoh (knee) and Albert Vallci (Achilles) are out injured.
Max Wöber is out until the winter break with a torn calf muscle. Mohamed Camara is suspended.
Noah Okafor (thigh) is a doubt.
Matthias Jaissle on …
… the opponents:
Hartberg are very unpleasant opponents to play, we know that from our first fixture. They caused us big problems and it was a very close match. Hartberg have shown they can beat the biggest teams in the league as they won against WAC and Sturm Graz.
… the injury situation:
We have a really long list of absent players at the moment. We can't lament it though, we are really pleased that Jerome Onguene is back again. He has been playing a full part of training again and left a good impression. Kamil Piatkowski is also back and is getting more into it along with Oumar Solet. We knew from the start of the season that there would be a lot of matches and that we have a really good squad. We can deal with all the injuries well.
Andreas Ulmer on …
… the match on Saturday:
The statistics don't matter, as the match is starting goalless. As we saw recently, we can lose matches when not everything is going right. That shouldn't happen too often in a season though.
… the last three matches before the winter break:
We need to really do all the basics right again. We perhaps didn't do that as much as we wanted to in our past few matches. We have three home matches now, and we want to win them all. If we remain concentrated, put everything else to one side and work together on the pitch, it should go our way.
