A new week of games in the MLS has passed. Inter Miami won their duel against Chicago Fire by 4-1; Columbus Crew also won against New York City by a score of 4-2. However, LA Galaxy lost their match against St. Louis City 2-1.
Inter Miami's biggest competitor for the Supporters' Shield has just given the Herons a significant advantage. Due to these results, ESPN releases the new MLS Power Rankings heading into the 28th week of Major League Soccer.
With a fantastic win against LAFC by 2-0, the team managed by Ben Olsen escalated four spots in the ranking. Playing great football, Houston Dynamo sits in the seventh position in the West conference, with multiple chances to get into the playoffs.
With two of their best players suspended, the Timbers attack wasn't as dangerous as before. However, their defense solidity took the entire game. Playing against their biggest rival, the defenders hold that victory with their lives.
The Whitecaps won 1-0 against Austin FC. They controlled every minute of that game, taking advantage of their midfielder to help win the match. Fighting for a spot in the playoffs, the Vancouver Whitecaps run fifth in the MLS.
With a formidable game against Dallas, the Rapids managed to win 3-2. The team showed flaws that could end up with them ting or even losing the match on Saturday. Due to this result, Colorado Rapids are in the fight for first place in the West Conference.
Real Salt Lake demonstrated an assertive performance in their recent game, displaying the characteristics of a team with championship aspirations. Currently positioned third in the Western Conference, they have the potential to surpass LA Galaxy in the standings with just two more victories.
Without Riqui Puig, LA Galaxy struggles to control the game in the midfield. The signing of Reus into the team gave the club a boost, but it is clear that without the Spanish midfielder, LA Galaxy can't get possession of the ball.
Do not confuse yourself with their position. LAFC is one of the most consistent teams in the league, but there is a reality. They lost against Dynamo.
Winning 4-1 against FC Montreal is a crucial achievement for the team. Without winning almost for a month in MLS, this is a great way for Cincinnati to turn the page and start a new winning strike. Their last victory in MLS was against Inter Miaim, scoring 6-1.
Coming back from a 2-2 against New York City, Columbus took control of the game and ended up winning by a score of 4-2. Way ahead of the first place in the East conference, Columbus Crew is still a dominant team in the league.
After beating Chicago Fire 4-1 on Saturday, Inter Miami placed themselves as the biggest contenders for the Supporters Shield. Also, with great form, the Herons are five wins ahead of breaking the record for the most points made by a team in the MLS.
