Inter Milan have officially confirmed the appointment of Cristian Chivu as their new coach.
The Nerazzurri had already decided upon the 44-year-old to replace Simone Inzaghi a few days ago.
On Thursday, Inter chose Chivu, concluding a search of a couple days. This search had seen them try for Cesc Fabregas, and also reportedly consider Patrick Vieira.
However, in the end, Inter went with Treble-winning former defender Chivu. They called the Romanian, and he agreed to step up.

Chivu gave his first interview as Inter coach. “I’m honoured by the role that’s been entrusted to me,” he said.
“I have ambition and passion. I will transmit to the team, because we have to do what a team like Inter deserves.”
The new coach stressed that Inter must “go deep and fight to win trophies.”
“We’re ready to give everything for it,” he said.
Chivu then noted that Inter “want to finish this season in the best way possible” at the Club World Cup.
“We all need to have the passion and ambition necessary to get great results.”
“My work will start with the Club World Cup,” Chivu noted. “The season isn’t over.”
“We need to get our mental energy back. And then go out and do what a team like Inter have to do, that’s to say win a trophy.”
Meanwhile, Chivu gave his thoughts on the job that he did keeping Parma in Serie A. “The club believed in me,” he said.
“And the players always went out onto the pitch determined.”
And from the Inter fans, Chivu said that “we all need to believe in it.”
“To be enthusiastic about a season that isn’t over yet. And to look very positively towards the next one.”
