Earlier this week, Diego Moreira (20) completed his move from Chelsea to fellow-BlueCo-owned club RC Strasbourg Alsace, however, according to DNA Sports, the value of the transaction may be considerably more than initially thought.
Moreira spent part of last season on loan at Olympique Lyonnais, however, amid the club’s struggles, Moreira struggled to flourish, returning to parent club Chelsea. However, given the competition at Stamford Bridge, the Brazilian winger’s prospects of any first-team football were highly limited.
As a result, he was sold to partner club Strasbourg, signing a five-year deal. He is the third Chelsea player to join the French side this summer, following the arrivals of Andrey Santos and Caleb Wiley on loan. Initially, it was reported that Moreira had joined for a fee of around €2m.
However, as reported by DNA Sports, the true value of the transaction between the two BlueCo-owned clubs was in fact €8m. A considerable outlay for Strasbourg, who are working on a much smaller budget than their English partners.
