Fabrizio Romano last night dropped the “here we go” to inform all Chelsea fans that the deal to sign Alejandro Garnacho is done.
After months of back and forth, the Blues agreed a fee with Man U in expectation of Christopher Nkunku making his move to AC Milan. It’s been a patient chase, but the Blues have got the man they’ve wanted since January when Garnacho was first made available, if reports are to be believed.
It’s all clicking into place – but what of Garnacho?

Some fans aren’t too keen on signing him, preferring Xavi Simons perhaps, or worrying about Garnacho’s bad vibes which have led to his departure from Old Trafford via the back door.
There’s a lot of upside, and a little risk. A nice combination. Some positive PR for the youngster came in Tweets that surfaced this evening of Garnacho as a kid in Madrid wearing Chelsea gear.
The cynic in us wants to say that football mad kids own all sorts of shirts and gear. Maybe he just had a school trip to London?
But perhaps he really was a true Blue, and maybe that’s why he’s been so insistent on joining us and nobody else this summer.
You can see the pictures of Garnacho in the posts embedded here:
All of this backstory on Garnacho, plus the bargain price we’re signing him for, sets this up to be a juicy transfer either way. Either Chelsea fans or Man U fans are going to be laughing at some point this season – let’s hope it’s us.
His first task is to get into the team, which may not be easy given Estevao Willian’s form at the moment.
