Manchester United youngster Shola Shoretire has had a month to remember. He has now capped it off by writing his name into the club’s history books.
The teenager was a part of the United squad that travelled to Turin last week to take on Real Sociedad. An unused substitute on the night, he would make his club debut last weekend against Newcastle United in the Premier League.
Shoretire was once again on the substitutes bench yesterday. However, unlike in Turin, he was brought on in place of Mason Greenwood.
At 17 years and 23 days, he is the youngest player in history to make his bow for United in Europe. He broke the record held by Norman Whiteside since 1982, by 102 days.
Incidentally, the opposition on both nights were Spanish and both games ended in a 0-0. It was a moment to savour for Shoretire, who took to Twitter to express his joy.
A number of fans too shared his excitement and took to social media to express their opinion on the historic moment. We take a look at a few of them below.
