On Monday, Robin Peter was announced as the new ADO Den Haag boss, and the day after, the German gave his first interview to ADO TV. The coach discussed his choice for ADO, the club’s ambitions, and his desired playing style.
It was reportedly an easy decision for Peter, who was fired from FC Emmen after six months last season. “I’m happy to be here. I felt comfortable the moment I entered the stadium,” begins the new head coach, who can’t wait to get started.
“When you enter the stadium here—and I’ve been here before as an opponent—you discover the energy here, the power of the city. Then you don’t have to think twice.”
The 37-year-old German has high hopes for this upcoming campaign. “This club deserves more than the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. The club has much more potential, and if I can contribute to that, I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to get started here and do everything I can to be successful.
“With the opportunities we have, the size we have,” the coach continues. “We have to look up. And we have to take responsibility for the higher goal, which in our case is promotion.”
Peter has a recognisable playing style in mind. “I have pretty clear ideas. My team needs to play with intensity. I think that suits our stadium and our fans very well. We want to be active and aggressive, but also dominant in possession. People need to be able to find identity with our style of play.”
