Manuel Neuer and Leroy Sané have only been able to train individually all week. Coach Thomas Tuchel has now confirmed that the two internationals will miss Saturday’s game in Heidenheim. They are also doubtful for the game at FC Arsenal.
FC Bayern will be without Manuel Neuer and Leroy Sané for the away game at 1. FC Heidenheim on Saturday (15.30). This was confirmed by FCB coach Thomas Tuchel at the pre-match press conference. Aleksandar Pavlovic and Kingsley Coman will also be missing.
When asked about the squad for Saturday, Tuchel replied: „Manuel Neuer, Kingsley, Leroy, Aleksandar Pavlović and Noussair Mazraoui are not in the squad. None of the five will be rested for Tuesday. They’re not in the squad because they can’t, so it’s also a question mark for Tuesday. There’s no tendency, every minute counts. Raphael Guerreiro is back in the squad.“
Tuchel went on to explain that Neuer and Sané could also be ruled out for the Champions League quarter-final first leg at Arsenal on Tuesday. There is „a big question mark for Tuesday with both players. We’ll have to wait until Monday,“ said the 50-year-old.
Neuer had torn a muscle fibre in his thigh during training with the German national team and had subsequently left the team.
Sané has been plagued by problems with his patellar tendon and pubic bone for weeks. Kingsley Coman is still suffering from the consequences of his torn muscle fibre.
Tuchel explained: „With Leroy, the main problem is the pubic bone, with Kingsley it’s the muscles. He had muscular problems after the game. We have, thank God, got confirmation that it’s not structural, but it’s problems that make it impossible for him to play.“
According to Tuchel, Pavlovic picked up another infection after his tonsillitis: „He’s completely flat.“
Speaking about the game and the many injury problems, Tuchel said: „We have five potential starting eleven players injured. We’re trying to get the players into a rhythm. The important thing is that we play 90 minutes with the mental fitness that we lacked against Dortmund.“
