Wolves earned an impressive victory over Portuguese giants Porto as they stepped up their pre-season preparations in Portugal.

Pedro Neto’s first-half strike was enough to separate the two sides.

Scorers: Neto 19′.

Neto, who will be looking to get back to the sort of form he displayed before suffering a long-term ankle injury last season, showed some sharpness to score the only goal of the game.

The 23-year-old nicked the ball back from a Porto midfielder high up the pitch before Pablo Sarabia laid it into the path of Matheus Nunes who drilled an inviting low cross to the back post for Neto to tap in from four yards out.

Mehdi Taremi, linked with a move away from Porto in recent days, came close to equalising in the first-half before Jose Sá reacted quicker to smother his attempt from close range.

Julen Lopetegui set up his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation from the off with Sarabia playing just behind Matheus Cunha in attack but the second half saw the type of chaotic changes that pre-season brings.

There was another nice moment for Wolves supporters in that second period as Matt Doherty came off the bench to make his second debut for the club since returning to Molineux last week.

It’s a clash with Celtic up next for Lopetegui’s men on Saturday while Porto take on Rayo Vallecano the same day.
