The Netherlands face Turkey on Saturday evening in their quarter-final clash at Euro 2024 in Berlin.

The Dutch offered up their strongest performance of the tournament in the last 16, with Cody Gakpo once again shining brightest with a goal and an assist. Donyell Malen also made a positive impression from the bench, scoring twice as the Netherlands put Group E winners Romania to the sword.

Turkey also impressed in the last 16 as they faced Euro 2024 dark horses Austria. Despite topping a group that contained the Netherlands and France, Ralf Rangnick's side were unable to overcome a Turkey side that have now won three of their four games in Germany.

A brace from centre-back Merih Demiral and a superb stoppage-time save from Mert Gunok helped them to a 2-1 victory against Austria.

Saturday will be the first meeting between the Oranje and Turkey at a major tournament and only the 15th clash overall. The Netherlands have a marginally better record in past fixtures, with six wins to their opponents' four.

Having bagged a double from the bench last time out, Malen has a very good chance of starting against Turkey. The Borussia Dortmund star will feature on the right flank, meaning Steven Bergwijn will drop out after his surprise inclusion in the last 16.

Elsewhere, Ronald Koeman is unlikely to make any alterations. Denzel Dumfries returned to the starting lineup against Romania and will retain his place, but he is one yellow card away from missing the semis should the Dutch get that far.

Malen is also a booking away from suspension, as are Jerdy Schouten and Joey Veerman in the centre of the park.

Entering the last-16 clash with Austria, Turkey had ten players who were a yellow card away from suspension. Unfortunately, the impressive Orkun Kokcu will miss the quarter-final after his booking, as will holding midfielder Ismail Yuksek.

The good news for Turkey is that Inter star Hakan Calhanoglu will return from his one-game ban in the centre of the park, with defender Samet Akaydin also available after suspension. However, Vincenzo Montella still has another eight players who will miss the semis should they be cautioned, including Arda Guler and Kenan Yildiz.

Having limped into the last 16, the Netherlands showed what they're capable of against Romania. Yes, it's just Romania, but the same could be said of Slovakia and Slovenia, with England and Portugal struggling in their respective clashes with said minnows.

They created an impressive amount of opportunities and in Gakpo and Simons they have real game-changers in the final third. Given Turkey are yet to keep a clean sheet, that could spell trouble.

However, Montella's side will put up an almighty fight. They have scrapped their way into the last eight and performed far better against Austria than the Netherlands did during the group stage. They too have game-changers up top in the form of Guler and Yildiz.
