Frank de Boer has named his preliminary Netherlands squad for this summer’s European Championship.

The most notable absentee is Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk, who had been at the centre of a tug-of-war over his involvement between club and country.

But he ruled himself out of contention in the preliminary group chosen by De Boer, who has picked an initial 34-man squad.
