England beat Switzerland on penalties and Netherlands came back to beat Türkiye in today's quarter-finals
That's it from us, we will be back with you for the semi-final action.
FULL-TIME! Netherlands go through to the semi-final and will now face England on Wednesday.
The second goal has been officially given as an own goal by Mert Müldür, by the way.
CHANCE! Bart Verbruggen gets down so quickly to make a brilliant save that would've certainly been a Türkiye equaliser right at the death!
You get the feeling anything could happen before the whistle here, it's end-to-end stuff!
CHANCE! There's some desperate defending here as Türkey look for the equaliser, with Micky van de Ven coming up with a last-ditch block to deny them.
GOAL! In a matter of minutes, Netherlands have turned things around! It's a scruffy goal as Cody Gakpo somehow bundles the ball into the back of the net, but he won't care!
GOAL! After Wout Weghorst had hit the side netting, Stefan de Vrij rose up from a cross that came from the resulting corner and delivered a bullet header into the net.
It's been a strange performance so far from Netherlands, as they've really struggled to make any kind of impact on the match. And they are running out of time...
CHANCE! Wout Weghorst somehow manages to get a foot in on a shot from Kaan Ayhan, which would have almost certainly been a goal.
CHANCE! Güler hits the post with a wicked free-kick. Is there anything this youngster can't do?
KICK OFF! The second half begins and the stats seem to indicate that we could see some more entertainment in the next 45 minutes.
HALF-TIME: It's Türkiye who go in at the break in front. Can they hold out?
The cross from teenage Real Madrid star Güler was an absolute peach, and it was on his so-called weaker foot too!
GOAL! Türkiye take the lead after Arda Güler swung a cross in right to the far post, which was met by the head of Samet Akaydin and went straight into the back of the net.
In other news, there are two very recognisable faces in the crowd watching this match. Has anyone told Ryan Reynolds this isn't Wrexham?
Following the pattern of the quarter-finals in general, the opening period in this game has been very cagey. Let's see how quickly it sparks into life.
CHANCE! Memphis Depay gets a chance already but he slips as he's taking a shot and it goes way over the bar
KICK OFF! We go again
We now find out who will face England in the semi-final with the second game of the evening.
We'll be right back with you for the next game between Netherlands and Türkiye!
Heartbreak for Switzerland but joy for England as the Three Lions win 5-4 on penalties, with Trent Alexander-Arnold netting the winning spot kick.
Trent Alexander-Arnold can be England's match-winner here. The Liverpool steps up and ... SCORES! England win on penalties!!
Amdouni has to score for Switzerland here. And he ... SCORES!
Ivan Toney doesn't miss penalties for Brentford. And he doesn't miss here either! England 4-2 Switzerland!
England 3-2 Switzerland
Xherdan Shaqiri is Switzerland's third penalty taker. He SCORES!
England's hero Bukayo Saka is up now. The Arsenal striker ... SCORES!
It's Fabian Schar next for Switzerland ... and he SCORES. England 2-1 Switzerland.
Jude Bellingham will be England's second penalty taker. The Real Madrid forward ... SCORES!
Manuel Akanji steps up for Switzerland ... he MISSES!
It'll be England who take first with Cole Palmer given the responsibility. And the Chelsea man SCORES!
In truth, it's been a pretty poor game with neither side really impressing. Embolo's second half strike was almost immediately cancelled out by Saka and after a few chances in extra time, we're not headed to spot kicks.
FULL TIME! And that's it, after 120 minutes, we're going to penalties.
England are getting it launched but nothing seems to be sticking to Toney!
CHANCE! Right at the death, Widmer got the better of Saka but couldn't connect with his volley as the ball went just over the bar from six yards. So close for the Swiss.
CHANCE! Shaqiri's corner beats Pickford all ends up and cannons off the post with the England goalkeeper picking himself out of the net.
CHANCE! Fabian Schar finds himself in acres of space on the edge of the England area but fires his effort well over the bar.
There are just under 10 minutes to go. It's still 1-1 here in Düsseldorf! Can either of these teams find a winner?
Here comes Ivan Toney, who replaces the limping Harry Kane.
HALF TIME! We're at half time in extra time with England looking most-likely to score. Declan Rice went close with a curled effort but it's still 1-1.
England have now had more shots on target in extra time (2) than they did in normal time (1). Remarkable, really.
CHANCE! It's Bellingham's turn to test Sommer with the Real Madrid man twisting and turning inside the area but struggled to connect with an effort and clipping the ball into the goalkeeper's hands.
CHANCE! Four minutes into extra time and England almost went ahead there as Declan Rice whipped an effort towards goal but the shot was saved brilliantly by Yann Sommer.
Gareth Southgate has Bukayo Saka to thank with the Arsenal man scoring with England's only shot on target in the 90 minutes. It's been predictable and plodding from the Three Lions but they live to fight for another half an hour. Extra time will be underway any minute now.
FULL TIME! We're headed to extra time folks. Breel Embolo thought he'd won it for Switzerland with a close range effort but Bukayo Saka's equaliser means this match is headed for another 30 minutes.
The momentum has really turned in this game with England pushing for a winner. Just one minute of normal time to go.
It's not been a classic performance from England - but get that second shot on target and who knows ...
Some history for Saka with that goal ...
Bukayo Saka has been, by a distance, England's best player today and deserved that goal. Will the Three Lions push on for a winner in normal time now?
GOAL!!!!! England equalise almost immediately as Bukayo Saka cuts in from the right-hand side and fires in a brilliant effort into the far corner. 1-1!
England have finally made some substitutions with Cole Palmer, Luke Shaw and Eberechi Eze coming on.
GOAL!!!! Embolo breaks the deadlock for Switzerland and it's a goal they throughly deserve. The Swiss striker ghosted in at the far post and tapped in after great work down the right-hand side. 1-0!
Still no changes for England who look incredibly one-paced, with no width and a total lack of urgency in the final third. It's been dire since the start of the second half from them.
We're heading into the final 20 minutes now. Who do you think is going to come out on top?
Switzerland are definitely the side in the ascendancy now with Aebischer's shot from the edge of the area going over the bar.
A common refrain from the England fans and pundits on my timeline ...
If only there were any creative influences on the bench…… Southgate’s game management is appalling.–
If there's one stat to sum up England's troubles in attack, it's this ...
We're now an hour into this game and it's still goalless. Surely these two coaches have to make some changes soon?
The answer to that was a categorical no.
A brilliant counter-attack from the Swiss has seen them go from their own penalty area to winning a corner in the space of a few seconds. It was a fantastic pass from Manuel Akanji that opened up the move. Can they score from the set piece?
CHANCE! A second for Embolo who wrestles with Konsa in the area but sees his header come off the Aston Villa man and into the arms of Pickford.
As Squawka have confirmed, that Embolo shot was the first on target in the game ... after 51 minutes ...
Harry Kane looks to be having another anonymous performance in this tournament ...
CHANCE! Probably the first real effort of the game as Breel Embolo tries to turn Ezri Konsa in the area, but his effort is saved well by Pickford.
Neither side has made a substitution at the break. Here's hoping something changes in this match soon!
And we're back underway in the second half!
HALF-TIME. And that's it for the opening 45 minutes. It's been a game of few chances with neither side really showing any of their quality in the final third. We'll be back in 15 minutes!
Bukayo Saka, once again, is causing problems down the right-hand side - but his pass back to Kobbie Mainoo is under-hit and the Manchester United man can't find the target with his shot.
This game has so far been more Portugal v France than Spain v Germany. Still goalless, still not great.
Some more Saka loving on this live blog ...
England have looked a lot better in the opening half an hour here but completely wasted a corner as they tried to play short and ended up lumping the ball back to Jordan Pickford. Not ideal!
We're midway through the half and it's still goalless here in Düsseldorf.
A few stats here on how well Saka has played so far ...
Bukayo Saka has been looking dangerous down England's right-hand side and with 20 minutes gone has just won the Three Lions a corner.
A huge shout for a penalty from Harry Kane as the Bayern Munich man goes down in the area! The referee waves play on though.
Half-chance for Declan Rice, who fires in a shot from the edge of the area but has his effort blocked.
We're 10 minutes in and Switzerland have been the side looking most dangerous so far. There have been two very temping crosses in the past couple of minutes that have needed to be dealt with. Still 0-0 though!
It seems like Gareth Southgate might not have learned any lessons from England's previous games, as noted here ...
Within the first minute it's clear that Kieran Trippier is keeping his place on the left side of defence with Bukayo Saka on the right. It's certainly a choice.
KICK OFF! England get us underway in Düsseldorf.
