Nerazzurri Wingback Denzel Dumfries: “Named After Denzel Washington, Of His Films I Dedicate ‘The Equalizer’ To Inter” | OneFootball

Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries has confirmed that his name came from the famous American actor Denzel Washington, and also given a dedication of one of the actor’s films which he feels particularly represents the spirit and determination of this Nerazzurri team.

Speaking on the “Having a coffee with…” feature on the Nerazzuri’s official Instagram account, as reported by FCInterNews, the 26-year-old opened a bit about his thoughts off of the pitch, and also singled out Washington’s 2014 action thriller “The Equalizer” to dedicate to his team.

Inter have been getting fans the chance to know some of the players in the team on a more personal level, including with interviews and Q&A’s, and other ways to get a window into the players’ interests and sense of humour.

Dumfries confirmed that he is named after American actor Washington, and the Dutchman also made no secret that he is a big fan of his namesake’s films.

“I really like all of his films and of course I’ve seen them all,” he said of Washington. “He’s one of the most talented actors of his generation, and I’m a huge fan.”

And regarding which of the actor’s films particularly reminds him of this Inter team, Dumfries said “We’re a team of fighters, so I would say ‘The Equalizer’. We’re a team that fights, we show strength and passion. I think it’s a great choice.”

The 26-year-old was also asked about his hobbies outside of football, replying ” I really like music and I listen to it both at home and in the car. I like Afro-Caribbean and dance music,” adding with a laugh that “I’m not a very good dancer though.”
