Inter had something of a mixed start to the season, as a poor start in Serie A left them with ground to make up in the title race, but some memorable results in the Champions League saw them progress to the round of sixteen where they will face Porto.

When the club season resumes in January, Inter will face a barrage of league fixtures which could give them the opportunity to start catching up to Napoli, starting with a head-to-head clash with the Partenopei on January 4.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri will face city rivals AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana, whilst the Nerazzurri’s Coppa Italia campaign will also begin in January against Parma in the round of sixteen.

Then, in February, Inter will face Porto in the Champions League as they aim to build on last season and reach the quarterfinals of the competition.

Asked about his goals for 2023, Mkhiaryan replied simply, “To win trophies with Inter.”

“We have to come back very strong,” the Armenian noted, “we know how important the match against Napoli will be, we have to do everything to win and fight for the top spots.”

“It’s too early to talk about it, but we know the importance of that match.”

“We have to win not just that match, but also the following ones,” he added.

Asked what he considers to be his best position, Mkhitaryan replied that “It doesn’t matter where I play, as long as I play and can help the team to achieve its goals.”

The 33-year-old also spoke about his former Manchester United and current Inter teammate Romelu Lukaku, stating that “Lukaku is fundamental to Inter.”

Of his former Roma teammate Edin Dzeko, he said that “Dzeko is a master, an absolutely top-class player.”

“I’ve known him for three years already,” he added of the Bosnian, “he hasn’t changed and continues to improve – we hope that he stays here for years to come.”
