Legendary former Inter goalkeeper Walter Zenga believes that the matches that Inter play during the early weeks of 2022 will be decisive for their Scudetto hopes.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the 61-year-old noted that the Nerazzurri play all three direct Scudetto rivals by February and suggested that this could determine how the Serie A title race goes.

Inter are now very much back in the Scudetto chase, clawing a seven-point deficit from Milan and Napoli back to the point where they’re only one point behind the Rossoneri and lead the Partenopei.

Atalanta, meanwhile, have also forced themselves into contention with their recent form, leaving themselves only three points behind Inter and four points off top spot.

The Nerazzurri’s schedule early in 2022 will pose a serious test for them in the title race, with quickfire games against the other three members of the current Serie A top four likely to be key in determining whether or not they are able to run away with the title.

“Inter’s Scudetto hopes will be decided when the season resumes after the Christmas holidays,” Zenga stated. “After Bologna on January 6, the Nerazzurri face all the other top four teams by February 13. A lot will be decided in those matches.”
