Legendary former Inter defender Beppe Bergomi is impressed by the style of play at the Nerazzurri under head coach Simone Inzaghi.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia following Inter’s 2-0 win over Spezia in Serie A, Bergomi gave his appraisal of the football played by his former side this season.

Inter got their third win in a row in Serie A, and their fourth in all competitions since the return from the international break, by beating Spezia at the San Siro.

The Nerazzurri dominated possession as they had against Venezia over the weekend, and once again this resulted in both a number of chances created and very few conceded.

Bergomi feels that the brand of football being played by Inzaghi’s team at the moment is highly impressive and tactically interesting.

The former defender spoke about the role of Federico Dimarco and the wide centre-backs in the team, explaining that “He has the confidence of his coach, who sees him as somewhere between a wide defender and a winger.”

“Inter exploits a lot of its internal overlaps,” he went on, “which they know how to use to create superiority.”

Bergomi concluded that “Inter are playing well, they attack with many men forward. They had to make some changes, and they had to reinvent the defense, and now they’re playing very well.”
