Legendary former Inter defender Beppe Bergomi feels that Atalanta wing-back Robin Gosens would be an ideal signing for the Nerazzurri.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Bergomi emphasized the view that the 27-year-old would be able to hold down the left-sided position in the team for several seasons.
Inter have been searching for a left-sided player for some time, and have aimed to not only add depth behind current starter Ivan Perisic in the short term but also find a successor for the 32-year-old in the long term.
Gosens is a player who the Nerazzurri have long admired, but recent reports have stated that they are now ready to take their interest to the next level and make a push for his signing.
The German has experience playing at a high level in a proactive, intense, and tactically rigorous team with Champions League experience in the form of Atalanta, and Bergomi feels that he would fit right in at Inter.
“Gosens would be a fine addition even though he’s currently injured,” Bergomi said of the links to the German, “he’s perfect for how Inter play.”
He added that “Inter have struggled to add a left-sided player of real quality even though Perisic has done well, is two-footed and has real quality. Gosens gives the team physicality, but above all he can hold down the position for years to come.”
