Legendary Inter striker Alessandro Altobelli has shared his belief that thanks to their squad depth, which enables them to field two strong starting XI’s, Inter can go all the way and win the Serie A title this season.

“We need to start again from second place and the lost Europa League final,” he began an interview during Italian daily newspapers Tuttosport and Corriere dello Sport’s ‘SportLab’ event, as quoted by Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

“If we look at this season, we have so far seen a competitive team capable of scoring many goals but still needs to correct something to be super competitive.

“I think it will be a good fight with Juve, also because the five substitutions favour the big teams, just look at the opening match with Fiorentina, where Conte overturned the match with five new players.

“IInter have two starting teams available therefore, Covid permitting, it will be a good season in which the Nerazzurri can win it, Atalanta and Lazio permitting.”

Inter have started the 2020/21 Serie A in an alright manner with them having picked up 10 points from a potential 15 available to them from the first five games of the new season.

Antonio Conte’s side are sitting in fourth place in the standings at the moment and are trailing league leaders and city rivals AC Milan by just three points, which is certainly by no means an insurmountable distance.

Altobelli spent 11 years of his 17 year playing career with Inter between the years 1977 and 1988 and is one of the best goalscorers that the club have ever had. In 465 appearances for the club, he scored 209 goals.
