He played 78 minutes and set up Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal as the two sides drew 1-1.

Matic won’t be at United much longer, having already confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old gave an emotional post-match interview where he admitted the club will always be in his heart.

He told Sky Sports: “For me it has been a pleasure and an honour to play at Old Trafford for five years and I will do my best to help my team. I’ll just repeat, it’s been a pleasure. Three more games to play and United will stay forever in my heart, together with Chelsea.

“I also played for Chelsea. It has been an honour to be part of everything. There has to be better times ahead. United is a big club, expectations are high. I think at the end of the season, the club needs to move forward to see where they can improve.

“I will [always] be a supporter. I’m sure better times will come. I haven’t decided yet [future plans]. I have three more games and after that I will decide my future.”

Roy Keane was covering the game on Sky Sports and he went full Roy Keane after Matic spoke from the heart.

The Irishman, in typical fashion, was not too impressed.

After branding them ‘inappropriate’, he added: “Where’s the standards at the club? Matic’s talking about I’m leaving, I’ve had a great time, Man United will always be in my heart, oh and Chelsea as well, oh and Benfica don’t forget them. They all can’t be in your heart!”

Never change, Keane.

Since signing for United in 2017, Matic has played 187 times for the club and scored four times.
